πŸ’¬ The Chat Interface

Layout Overview

The Tesseract interface has four main areas:

  • Sidebar (left) β€” Conversation list, navigation, and settings
  • Header (top) β€” App title and bug report button
  • Chat area (center) β€” Messages and block documents
  • Composer (bottom) β€” Message input and controls

The sidebar is your navigation hub for all conversations.

  • Desktop: The sidebar is visible by default and can be toggled open or closed.
  • Mobile: The sidebar is hidden by default and opens as an overlay.

What’s in the sidebar

  • New conversation button at the top β€” starts a fresh chat
  • Conversation list β€” all your past conversations, sorted by most recent
    • Grouped by time: Today, Yesterday, X days ago
    • Hover over a conversation to see the delete option
  • Settings β€” gear icon at the bottom to open preferences
  • Sign out β€” log out of your account

Message Area

The central chat area displays your conversation history.

  • Your messages appear right-aligned.
  • Assistant responses appear left-aligned as block documents β€” structured collections of text, tables, charts, diagrams, and more.
  • The view auto-scrolls during streaming so you can follow along as new content appears.

Composer

The composer sits at the bottom of the chat and is where you type your messages.
